I nabbed another gem from Argosy magazine!  This one, from January 13, 1940,  is in much better condition than the other one I have,  which is a big plus.  The Mountie tale inside, a short novel,  is really very well written and full of action; it's called When the River Ran White,  by Harry Sinclair Drago.  It features the intrepid Mountie duo of Sergeant Jim Larned and the fiery Constable Moran, and it's full of fine Canadian colour.  Mountie pulp at its finest!

I was amazingly lucky to find a copy of this issue of Argosy magazine from May 21st, 1938,  with the novella Halfaday Creek, by James B. Hendryx.

The hero of our story is Corporal Downey of the Northwest Mounted Police, which is just right for a pulp.  Of course,  I bought it for the amazing cover,  but I look forward to reading  the novella in full!

I've had good fortune recently in acquiring fantastic pulp stuff;  apparently Mountie pulp is temporarily out of favour (ahem),  and thus,  I am one of the lucky few to benefit!

ADDENDUM:  I was recently informed that Altus press is making the entire Halfaday Creek saga (yep, a saga) available; they aren't all Mountie stories,  but Hendryx is worth the time and money!
